I've been reading romance for 20+ years now, and am someone who goes through ~2-3 a week, so I'm finding it quite difficult to come across new authors I haven't tried yet. Power dynamic (rich/poor, boss/employee, etc), Books shelved as julieannelong-read: The Legend of Lyon Redmond by Julie Anne Long, It Started With a Scandal by Julie Anne Long, Between the Devil and I. Nothing takes me out of a book faster than inconsistent character behavior/actions/motivations from one scene to the next.Īt the bottom (because it's a long list) is my purely subjective opinion of writing quality of authors I've read for reference(incidentally I've read most if not all of their entire backlogs of the ones under 'enjoyed' so books outside of these authors would be great). I’ve read maybe five of these and as usual Long frustrates me. Plot doesn't matter as much as relationships and interactions between characters. I love character interactions that are sharply written whether it's between the main couple or not. With writing quality, I tend to more drawn to (realistic) dialogue than descriptions. Then, the main thing I'm looking for is writing quality (as suits me), and secondarily there are some tropes that I enjoy a lot more than others. Also it's a long description, sorry ahead of time.

This is going to be a weirdly broad but specific description, so I hope it conforms to the community rules correctly. Tl dr: Looking for books with witty/sharp dialogue and great character interaction I haven't previously read.
